De Bollekamer

De Bollekamer is a scenic dune valley in the southwest of Texel, named after one of the island’s oldest dune valleys. This tranquil nature area features broad heather-covered valleys where the rare klokjesgentiaan blooms in deep blue during late summer, contrasting with the surrounding dopheide. Black Angus cattle graze here, maintaining the open landscape by controlling fast-growing plants, and visitors may encounter them along the walking paths—dogs should be leashed, and calves left undisturbed.

A marked 3-kilometre walking route, indicated by blue posts, winds through the dunes, offering views of wide valleys and distinctive vegetation. Nearby, a laarzenpad leads to Loodsmansduin, a historic lookout point once used by pilots and later a WWII command post, now accessible with panoramic views.
