Eierlandse duinen

The Eierlandse duinen at the northern tip of Texel are among the island’s oldest dunes, shaped centuries ago when a sea inlet separated Eierland from the main island until the 17th century. This lime-poor landscape features dry and wet dune grasslands, small woods, and intricately formed dunes rich in flowers, mosses, and lichens—ideal for birdwatching. Nearly 400 bird species have been recorded on Texel, with many spotted here, including rare migrants near the lighthouse.
