Vogelkijkgebied Zandkes

Vogelkijkgebied Zandkes is a birdwatching area on Texel formed when a new dyke cut off an old bend, creating a shallow wetland between the two. This 800-by-400-metre site features winding paths along the dyke, offering views of ponds and reed beds where species like avocet, spoonbill, grebe, and garganey thrive. The removal of cattle grids now allows wheelchair access.

Managed by Natuurmonumenten, the area provides 360-degree views year-round. Located just south of Minkewaal, access points are available from both the north and south sides of the dyke. For directions and recent sightings, visit vogelkijkhut.nl.
