Founded in 1994, Bewonersvereniging Texel is the voice of island residents, ensuring tenants have a say in housing decisions. Established under Dutch law, the association gained expanded rights in 1998, including limited approval authority alongside advisory powers. The board meets monthly and maintains regular dialogue with Woontij’s management, the municipality, and national housing network Woonbond.
The association actively connects renters of all ages through community gatherings, such as the 2025 Den Hoorn survey at dorpshuis De Waldhoorn and the October 2024 contact meeting in Den Burg. Members receive updates on local issues and help shape Texel’s future.
